Record swim workouts

Groningen - For the second time I start this post. The first take was even to difficult for myself to understand. And all I wanted to blog about is my new method of recording my swim sets… That must be easy I can hear you think! Well, there was just to much to talk about next to recording swim workouts… What software to use, what to record, using a heart rate monitor in the pool without a swim suit, power on the bike, speed on the run, and of course the software to use for analysis… I almost drowned, just like some of the previous watches I used in the pool. So here is take two.

As said in one of my Facebook post, watches and water make an awful match. Since I started racing triathlons, which is over half of my life ago, I have tried recording swim sets on a occasional basis. Occasional because in most cases my watch drowned during the set, which kept me from giving it another try. Foggy displays were just minor issues… But then there was light at the end of the tunnel! A different breed of watches… The Timex Ironman Sleek with TapScreen, without any buttons to record splits. Instead, hitting the screen of the watch is enough to record laps. Which means no more water ballet after having used the watch in the pool. How nice is that?

Besides that the digits on the display are so big that even with a foggy set of goggles even I am still able to read the split. And with simply hitting the screen of the watch recording a lap is stay easy, even when you are close to drowning after a hard set. Last but not least, the watch is pretty slim and therefore nice to use as a swim watch.

The Timex Ironman Tap Screen watches have been on the market for a while, but this use is new to me. I set the tap force to hard to prevent the watch from logging every stroke instead of every time I hit the screen. I hope this helps you to prevent drowning those expensive heart rate monitors!
