Groningen -There is only one 50 meter pool in Groningen. An old one. No roof, no blanket covering the water at night, no funky drainage system at the side, just a plain old concrete basis. And although it is pretty nice to got to, I have a love/hate relationship with it. And I am not talking about my splits, the showers, the entry fee, the ride there, the people working there, but I am talking about the water!

Water is water right? Well here, and perhaps it is just my imagination, it is different. This water gets to me each training. I have not figured out a way to turn it into a benefit for my sets. It is either a hot tub, or an ice bath. With a wetsuit it is pretty okay to do a easy set, but within 30 minutes I get cooked in my own little black hot tub. Without a wetsuit I get frozen within 30 minutes in the freezing water. Fortunately the indoor will open again in a short while and I can think about this challenge for yet another fall, winter and spring!
