I am almost crying. Almost crying because of my first triathlon. That long lasting impression of something you do for the first time. And all that comes from that first time. My first kiss. The purchase of my first race bike. The first, and only, time I got kicked out of class. And my first triathlon. But I wasn&amp;#8217;t near crying because of the triathlon itself, but because the swim got canceled. The water proved to be too cold to swim in. So what had to be my first triathlon, turned into a duathlon (run-bike-Run).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I was devastated. Since age 6 I had been swimming and it was by far my best part of the triathlon. And now it got canceled. I was devastated. It just couldn&amp;#8217;t be true. Why? Why did they cancel the swim. I even had a wetsuit. A tesco! Zippers from the chest all the way down to the feet. Easy to remove if still ask me. I wanted to swim! But there was no way that we were going to.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In the end I made it to finish. Struggling. I had barely beaten my sister by two minutes, because everything was hurting so badly. My bike did not even had an aerobar on it. And I even wore these racing gloves. But that day changed my life. It changed it big time. Since I did not race my first triathlon when I planned to race it, I had to go somewhere else. I just had to race a triathlon! And that is what I did since that day. Free from thoughts. Feeling free. On the bike. Riding small roads in between the field. Through forests. Up and down hills. Together with friends. Free to go where ever the roads take us. Feeling the wind through my helmet. Wind in my hairs. Wind making tears in my eyes. Wind flowing freely around me.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Enjoying the company. Feeling great with my friend. Enjoying the time with them. Telling stories. Listening to stories. Planning the next day. The next ride. It seems to last for every. Yet it is only 4 days. Days to remember. The rides together. The stories. The laughs. The freedom we have together. The happiness we share.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Pushing it. Feeling the pain. Pain in the legs. And yet that feeling is awesome. Awesome to push. Stick with the wheel in front. Pushing body and mind up the hills. Down the hills. To new limits. Binding us together with smiles. Smiles of the new limits. Of the stories we share. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Sitting up straight. Sticking out my hands. Feeling. Opening to the wind. To the sun. Feeling the wind and the sun in my hands. As if I can grab it. Closing my eyes. Just for a second. Time stops just for an instant. I feel joy. Joy in cycling. Joy to ride. Joy to feel free. A smile. Back to what I loved. Back to what I love.
